Autumnal Equinox
Today is the first day of autumn. I thought it appropriate
to give some insight into the Oregon Kids’ names Autumn and Billy. In my early
20s I went to a singles event sponsored by my church. I met a girl named
Autumn. I loved her name. Ever since then, I wanted to name my daughter Autumn
if God would grant me a daughter. My dad’s name is William though everyone
calls him Bill. I admire my dad and if God ever grants me a son, I want to name
him after my dad. Well I was single for a long time. I wrote my books when I
was single for a single mom whom I also met a single’s event sponsored by my
church. I named the kids the names I wanted to name my own children. I’m now
married and God did grant me a daughter whom I named Autumn-Marie. I still have
no Billy, but I have a lovely Johanna whom my wife named because the name means
God’s gracious gift. My next book in the Oregon Kids series will feature a
neighbor of Autumn and Billy who is named Johanna.
